Registration Now Open for the SIP Forum’s SIPNOC US 2012 Conference

Special Early-bird Pricing in Effect for the Second Annual SIP Network Operator’s Conference – SIPNOC – the Only International Conference focused on SIP for Service Provider Technical and Operational Personnel

NORTH ANDOVER, MA (December 14, 2011) – The SIP Forum announced today that it has opened registration for the second annual SIP Network Operators Conference (SIPNOC US 2012), a two-day educational conference focusing on the challenges and opportunities related to the deployment of SIP-based services. The SIP Forum encourages operators to send their technical and operational personnel to gain firsthand knowledge and unique insight surrounding the technical challenges and opportunities surrounding the growing deployment of SIP-related products and services across the globe.

SIPNOC US 2012 will be held at the Hyatt Dulles Hotel in Herndon, VA on June 25-27, 2012 and will build on the success of the inaugural event last spring, which attracted leading technical and operations personnel from the global carrier community and earned high praise from attendees for its educational, non-commercial and technical content that focused on the real-world challenges operators face when deploying SIP services in global IP networks. Topics to be discussed at the conference include: application development, testing and monitoring, SIP trunking, IPv6 deployment challenges, user-agent configuration, security, HD voice deployments, Wireshark tips and tricks, and more.

Interested groups and individuals can register at http://www.regonline.com/sipnocus2012. The regular conference registration fee is $895. However, a special early-bird registration rate of $695 is now in effect. SIP Forum Full Member companies can save even more with a special early-bird rate of $445. Space is strictly limited to 250 attendees, and SIPNOC US 2012 is expected to be a sold-out event.

“We originally launched this event as a venue for the industry’s technical and operational people and the issues they face, which are sometimes overlooked at the more marketing-centric conferences and events in our industry,” said SIP Forum Chairman of the Board Richard Shockey. “Last year proved our theory right that if we presented such a venue for operational discussions outside the realm of sales and marketing environments, real progress would be made in the SIP technology environment, and we are looking forward to offering this opportunity again.”

SIPNOC US 2012 will build on themes first discussed at last year’s inaugural event: addressing issues critical to the reliable and successful deployment and operation of SIP-based services in carrier networks and the opportunities that come with it. Among the topics expected to be on the agenda at this year’s conference are SIP trunking interoperability and the SIP Forum’s recently ratified SIPconnect 1.1 technical specification that provides a definitive and standardized set of guidelines for seamless, end-to-end interoperability between SIP-enabled IP-PBXs and service provider networks. Other themes to be discussed include Fax over Internet protocol (FoIP) interworking, implementing SIP with IPv6, and the sharing of best practices for the utilization of Wireshark for network diagnostics within IP network environments.

Attendees at SIPNOC US 2012 will include engineers and network architects from telecommunications providers, major backbone operators, interconnect and wholesale solution providers, ISPs, cable operators, wireless network operators as well as large enterprises deploying major SIP initiatives. At last year’s SIPNOC 2011, informational presentations were made by a number of professionals from organizations such as Comcast Cable, Cox Communications, Sprint Nextel, CableLabs and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). Dr. Douglas C. Sicker, Chief Technologist at the Federal Communications Commission, provided the keynote speech.

The SIP Forum has gained an international reputation for developing important, educational events surrounding SIP. The organization’s SIPit series of interoperability testing events regularly provides a test bed for SIP-based applications and equipment that has been heralded as critical for the development of new products and services in the industry. The SIP Forum also has a number of committees and task groups made up of well-known industry experts examining a myriad of SIP-related topics, including FoIP, video, and user-agent configuration.

About the SIP Forum

The SIP Forum is an IP communications industry association that engages in numerous activities that promote and advance SIP-based technology, such as the development of industry recommendations, the SIPit interoperability and testing events, special interoperability workshops, educational seminars, and general promotion of SIP in the industry. One of the Forum’s notable technical activities is the development of the SIPconnect Technical Recommendation – a standards-based recommendation that provides detailed guidelines for direct IP peering and interoperability between IP PBXs and VoIP service provider networks. The SIPconnect Compliant Certification Program is an associated program through which eligible companies can gain SIPconnect validation and the right to license the use of the SIP Forum’s ‘SIPconnect Compliant’ certification mark – the official brand of the leading standard for SIP Trunking products and services. Other important Forum initiatives include work in Fax-over-IP interoperability, User Agent Configuration, video interoperability, and SIP and IPv6.
