4. Cost-Effective Interoperability Testing of Prospective SIP Customers

Presented by Jack Shields, XO Communications.

This session will address a variety of SIP Trunk testing issues, and the approach XO Communications employs to enjoy more cost-effective testing. The testing approach that will be discussed has been in use for over four years at XO, which went from testing one customer every three weeks to an average of testing 3 customers a week with a high of 27 customers tested in its highest month. Learn why having good technicians and monitors and logs to find online customer problems is a great troubleshooting resource, and that catching SIP customer problems before putting the customer online is...priceless.

The specific testing issues explored include Authorization/Administration, Test duration (Timing), Scheduling (Calendar), Access (Customer and Carrier equipment), Notification, (To Customer and to Order Processing), Workload reduction (biggest cost advantage), Provisioning of test parameters, Customer Self testing, and the Analysis of results PASS/FAIL (No Incompletes).
