4. Technology Rollout with DNS

Presented by Randy Layman, Vocalocity.

New technology migrations can be difficult to manage and are a high risk proposition. This session will present one possible mechanism to mitigating the risk and controlling the rollout of new infrastructure to customers -- assigning a unique DNS name to every customer can help control the process at a very fine grain, allowing individual customers to be migrated (or left behind). While DNS scales well and has well defined replication and caching mechanisms, the solution isn't without fault. This session will cover real world experiences of using this mechanism in a production hosted IP-PBX network over the past two years.
