Leading IP Communications Standards Author and SIP Expert and Pioneering SIP Technology Developer to Share Views on the Status and Trends in Enterprise IP Communications, including SIP Trunking, Meeting, Instant Messaging and Presence Technologies

NORTH ANDOVER, MA (November 9, 2018) – The SIP Forum is proud to announce that Jonathan Rosenberg, the outgoing Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of the Collaboration Technology Group at Cisco Systems will present a keynote at the association’s upcoming SIPNOC 2018 conference.

SIPNOC 2018, the eighth annual SIP Network Operators Conference, will be held December 4-6, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Dulles Hotel in Herndon, VA, and is a unique educational conference for international telecom stakeholders responsible for the deployment, management and ongoing operation of SIP-based services in service provider networks, including telecommunications providers, major backbone operators, interconnect and wholesale solution providers, ISPs, cable operators, and wireless network operators.

Mr. Rosenberg will join an extraordinary group of keynote presenters at SIPNOC 2018 including Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) Chairman and CEO Ian Scott, new FCC CTO Dr. Eric Burger, and SIP Pioneer and Former FCC CTO Dr. Henning Schulzrinne.

“I’m thrilled to attend SIPNOC 2018 and address the community on the state of enterprise telecommunications. These are exciting times for the industry and it’s a great time to be working in this space,” said Mr. Rosenberg.

Jonathan Rosenberg was most recently the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of the Collaboration Technology Group (CTG) at Cisco. In that role, he was responsible for the product and technology strategy for Cisco’s multi-billion dollar collaboration portfolio. He was the principle behind Cisco Spark, Cisco’s new cloud architecture and associated client software and hardware.

Jonathan has dedicated his career to transforming the Telecommunications industry. Prior to rejoining Cisco in early 2013, Jonathan was Skype’s Chief Technology Strategist, where he guided the company’s technology strategy. Before that, he was a Cisco Fellow, focused on IP collaboration. Jonathan is most well known in the industry for his lead authorship of the SIP protocol. He is the 4th most impactful author of Internet standards of all time, and many of his technologies – SIP, STUN, TURN, ICE, and SIMPLE – are now the foundations of modern IP telecoms. In his roles over the years Jonathan shipped many of the industry’s first products – first SIP stack, first SIP proxy, first Session Border Controller (SBC), first SIP application server, first Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network, and the second team collaboration tool.

Jonathan received his bachelors and masters from MIT and holds a PhD in electrical engineering from Columbia University. In 2002 he was named one of the most innovative young technologists in the world by Technology Review magazine. He also was named a “Top Supergeek” by CRN and won a Pulver Von Pioneer award for contributions to the VoIP industry. In 2015 he was presented with the Ohio University Strowger Award for transformational innovation in the Telecommunications industry.

About the SIP Forum
The SIP Forum is a leading IP communications industry association that engages in numerous activities that promote and advance SIP-based technology, such as the development of industry recommendations; interoperability testing events including SIPit, and special workshops, educational activities, and general promotion of IP communications standards, services, and technology for service provider, enterprise and governmental applications. The SIP Forum is also the producer of the annual SIPNOC conferences (for SIP Network Operators Conference), focused on the technical requirements of the service provider community. One of the Forum’s technical activities is the development of the SIPconnect Technical Recommendation – a standards-based SIP trunking recommendation that provides detailed guidelines for direct IP peering and interoperability between IP PBXs and SIP-based service provider networks, and the SIPconnect Certification Testing Program, a unique certification testing program that includes a certification test suite and test platform, and an associated “SIPconnect Certified” logo program that provides an official “seal of certification” for companies products and services that have officially achieved conformance with the SIPconnect specification. Other important Forum initiatives include work in security, SIP and IPv6, and IP-based Network-to-Network Interconnection (IP-NNI). For more information about SIP Forum initiatives, please visit
