That's correct. That is how it works in practice today.

I'm just riding the tiger here, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought we had agreed that the REGISTER did NOT tell the SP what range of phone numbers goes to this PBX (selection 4 in Cullen's list) - that's configured at the SP through some other arrangement not covered by SIPconnect/1.1.

My impression was that #3 was the essential element. #4 is a side
effect that results from registration. #1 and #2 are somewhat
tangential -- products can and probably should handle those issues
in other ways.
