Martin,
I don't see a contradiction between what Eric is saying and what you
are saying. When one "end" is the carrier (for the session or service)
then the end-to-end SIP approach "just works".
I think the cases that Eric wants to emphasize are the ones broken
today by things like SBCs, where the carrier is not providing either
the termination or the service, but gets in the way.
