Action Sumanth: Investigate further explanatory material to accompany
SIP config framework for use cases concerned.
---
On the last call I took on the action item to look at the config
framework and see if we can author additional use cases that can help
with the bootstrapping case. (To clarify the plan is not to add use
cases to the config framework, but to propose complementary use cases
for the current effort.)
My proposal would be to author use cases to describe the bootstrapping
of:
- a software client;
- an ATA.
This is inline with Henning's findings that we discussed on the last
call, i.e., there are two classes of devices and we need to tackle both.
The use cases will identify:
- the pre-requisites in each case (e.g., obtaining a <username,
password> for a software client);
- the procedure to initiate the configuration framework procedures
(e.g., obtaining the domain name from the minimal information).
This minimal set should give us what we need, i.e., how do we bootstrap
a client? The rest is covered by the use case in the config framework.
The actual configuration data will be obtained via a separate action
item.
I would appreciate any thoughts if I am missing something here, i.e., do
we need more use cases? Is this proposal too much?
(Unfortunately I will not be able to make Monday's call.)
