Hi, John,

Thanks for kicking off our discussion on a range of topics. My understanding 
of the editor job is that I'm not supposed to reply e-mail-by-e-mail and 
point-by-point, but to capture the group consensus as it becomes more 
obvious, so I encourage others to consider John's posts (and others, as they 
appear).

I did want to reply to one point, because it's important...

In the 1.1 v00 baseline, my goal was to focus on specific changes that were 
requested in the starting-point contributions, so I tried to minimize 
"editorial" changes, and help people focus on what's different from the 1.0 
specification.

I agree that we have an opportunity to make editorial changes to make 1.1 
clearer and make it easier to verify that an implementation/deployment 
conforms to 1.1, so please expect that this WILL happen as we move forward.
