BEDFORD, Mass. - May 4, 2005 — Empirix Inc., the
industry’s leading supplier of VoIP testing systems, today announced
that PowerNet Global Communications has selected the Hammer XMS™
monitoring system to support its rollout of enhanced consumer and
business VoIP services. These offerings will enable PNG to provide
next-generation services to new customers, as well as the more than
50,000 business and 500,000 residential customers it currently serves.
The Hammer XMS delivers the full range of scalable, carrier-class VoIP
monitoring capabilities required for successful deployment of VoIP
services. As a leading provider of communications services, PNG knows that its clients have come to expect exceptional network quality,” said Mike Shaw, VP of Network Engineering. “We evaluated numerous network management tools, but believe that the Hammer XMS offers distinct advantages in network management, network performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Hammer XMS combines a wide range of real-time data displays with historical trend reporting, and enables us to look at call flows in great detail. The system will play a major role in assuring the highest levels of network and service quality for our customers. “Hammer XMS enables us to look at call setup details and then track the call’s path through our VoIP network,” add Shaw. “Using the source and destination IP addresses/ports, time stamps, we can identify a wide variety of issues, ranging from customer-side equipment provisioning errors to network problems such as packet loss, delay and jitter to configuration errors in border gateway controllers, application and network servers and other next-generation network infrastructure equipment.” PowerNet Global’s nationwide voice network residential customers will be able to utilize virtually any broadband service in conjunction with the PNG VoIP service, while receiving telco-grade voice quality. The PNG network will provide Class 5 features, coupled with advanced capabilities such as click-to-call, find me/follow me and private-brandable, browser-based portals. The Hammer XMS combines patent-pending, high-performance probes with a highly scalable architecture, enabling cable operators to efficiently monitor customer service level agreements and quickly identify and troubleshoot problems. The system tracks all VoIP and TDM protocol activity as well as media quality in real time for every call, 24x7. Data from multiple remote probes is correlated and centralized, making reports and real time diagnostic data accessible through a Web interface. Configuration options range from cost effective single-site probe deployment for remote turn-up monitoring and trouble-shooting, to carrier scale deployment monitoring. Founded in 1992, integrated communications provider PowerNet Global (www.powernetglobal.com) works with many of the country’s top communications agents and affinity groups to offer a wide range of integrated voice, data, and Internet solutions nationwide to residential and commercial customers. Leveraging its reputation in the industry with strong carrier partnerships, PowerNet Global offers tremendous opportunities for carriers, resellers, agents, and affinity groups. The company is headquartered in Cincinnati, and has offices in Jamestown, New York and Chicago. PowerNet Global has achieved consistent growth—throughout the telecom industry downturn—by developing and marketing an expanding array of competitive products, and maintaining a clear focus on delivering unrivaled customer support. Hammer products are the industry’s most widely-used VoIP IP/TDM test solutions, as verified by three consecutive Frost & Sullivan market surveys. Since the introduction of its first VoIP test system in 1995, the Hammer product family has grown to include a full range of testing platforms, products and services that span the complete development and deployment lifecycle for next-generation services. Leading network equipment manufacturers, service providers, independent labs and enterprise network operators rely on Hammer’s proven VoIP testing technology and patented innovations to cost-efficiently verify the functionality, performance and quality of service of next-generation equipment and networks.
