The SIP Forum Announces XO Communications CTO and SVP of Engineering Randy Nicklas to Keynote at SIPNOC 2013 – The SIP Network Operators Conference!

Randy Nicklas will join Federal Communications Commission Chief Technology Officer Henning Schulzrinne as the keynote presenters at SIPNOC 2013 – The SIP Network Operators Conference

NORTH ANDOVER, MA (April 4, 2013) – The SIP Forum, the leading industry association focused on the advancement of IP communications products and services based on the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), is proud to announce that Randy Nicklas, CTO and SVP of Engineering at XO Communications, will join Federal Communications Commission Chief Technology Officer Henning Schulzrinne as the keynote presenters at SIPNOC 2013 (www.sipnoc.org), being held at the Hyatt Dulles Hotel in Herndon, VA, April 22-25, 2013.

As the Chief Technology Officer and SVP of Engineering for XO Communications, Randy Nicklas is responsible for the overall technology vision, architecture, implementation, sustaining engineering and capacity planning for the company’s voice, data, and transport networks. He and his team are also the technical leads on the design of XO’s commercial and wholesale voice, data and IP-based services.

Previously, Randy was vice president of Engineering, responsible for the design, implementation, and sustaining engineering of XO’s transport, voice and data networks, and he has been an employee since 1999. Before joining XO, he held engineering and technical management positions at MCI, Cisco, and Intelsat. Randy has also worked in the areas of software development and systems engineering on a variety of aerospace programs for Computer Sciences Corporation, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and NASA. SIPNOC 2013 will host an international audience focused on the operational and technical aspects of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) in service provider networks and issues critical to the reliable and successful deployment and operation of SIP-based services in carrier networks.

The SIPNOC 2013 agenda will feature special presentations, tutorials, panel discussions and workshops covering key topics by network operators related to SIP-based services and infrastructure, including WebRTC, codec handling, SIP trunking design and deployment, the SIP Forum’s various technical initiatives, Fax over Internet protocol (FoIP) interworking, implementing SIP with IPv6, toll fraud detection and prevention, security best-practices, HD Voice deployment, testing methodologies, applications development, call routing and peering, troubleshooting and monitoring, emergency services, SIP market research findings, standards developments, important regulatory and policy developments, and more.
