Yate - Yet Another Telephony Engine Print E-mail

Yate is a next-generation telephony engine; while currently focused on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), its power lies in its ability to be easily extended. Voice, video, data and instant messaging can all be unified under Yate's flexible routing engine, maximizing infrastructure and communications in business.

The software is written in C++ and it supports scripting in various programming languages. Curently we have a library which is making things easier for php and python users.

Yate is built from 3 parts:

  • the core engine which is generic and its' classes are not telephony related
  • the clases generic for telephony
  • modules

The main component of Yate are messages. Modules are passing around messages between them. This allows us to have a bigger flexibility than functions, mainly because messages in Yate can have an arbitrary number of parameters.

Yate is a production ready software.

Yate's license is GPL with an exception for linking with OpenH323 and PWlib (licensed under MPL).
