The 5th International FOKUS IMS Workshop 2009 “Next Generation Networks and the Future Internet - Towards Rich Communications and Interactive Media”is organized by the Fraunhofer Institute FOKUS in cooperation with the Chair for Next Generation Networks (AV) at the Technische Universität Berlin.

This is the fifth of a series of FOKUS events around innovative multimedia services and related enabling technologies and protocols in the field of Next Generation Networks (NGNs) and the Future Internet.

Although the name of the event still features the term IP Multimedia System (IMS), we are looking much broader onto NGN, Web 2.0, Open Network APIs, RIA, and the evolution of infrastructures and services in regard to the emerging Future Internet. This workshop is typically a meeting point for technology experts rather than marketing persons. Attendees are expected from academia, research labs, industry and operators around the world.
